How we think, act, and speak about the things of God has a lot to do with how things will be for us as Christians. The Bible says that, “out of the abundance of our heart our mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34), so it appears to me that we should be building up our inner man, our spirit, our “heart” so that when affliction comes we will react properly.
As I was praying over my list of those who need healing this morning, the Holy Spirit had me to pray for their attitude about healing. I realized that if they or I don’t believe we can be healed, then we probably won’t. The Bible says if “two of you agree” ( Matt. 18:19) or “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” (2 Cor. 13:1), seems to indicate that people agreeing on the matter is a key for it to come to pass. I think if God says something in His word and we agree with it, that’s the two people we need agreeing.
The Bible says that, “by His stripes we are healed.” (1 Peter 2:24) so if we agree with that we will have our attitude in the right place to receive the healing Jesus provided for us at the cross. But do we really believe it and do we speak it? Aren’t we supposed to speak those things that are not as though they were?, (Rom. 4:17) Some have said this refers to God, and it does, but aren’t we supposed to be imitating Him, (Eph. 5:1)?
If you’re like me, you find that hard to do and I find my faith slipping at times. I appreciate the prayer of the man whose son was possessed by a spirit who said, “I believe, help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24). When demonic spirits are harassing you saying, “You’re going to die!”… don’t listen to it! Jesus died for our healing. Take it and claim it for your own. Jesus is certainly one witness, you be the other. If you have a need you want me to agree with you about, please comment. Be blessed!
