“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5.
Last week we saw God’s promise that, “I am the Lord, and I do not change. Malachi 3:6.” So whatever God says, goes for eternity. This week, God says that He is always with us; He never leaves us. So why is it that sometimes, it feels like He is so distant? If He never leaves us, then who did the leaving?
Many times we, as Christians, wander off on our own toward a glittering light that looks good, a call from off the path that sounds good, or just because we don’t know any better. God our Father has warned us not to go off on our own but, like all kids, sometimes we do. However, He is always there waiting for us to realize our mistake, repent, and come back to Him. He never leaves, we do!
Often, our prayers show that we don’t really understand Joshua 1:5. Have you ever prayed, “God be with me on this trip, as I take this exam, when I go for my job interview.”? God might be saying, “Child, I’m always with you. You don’t have to ask me over and over”.
God will never leave us. He promised!
