The Bible says we all have a measure of faith; “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3. It’s obvious there are different levels of faith from the faith Jesus had while on earth to what He told His disciples after He rebuked he storm, “no faith”, Mark 4:40. Sometimes we seem to have no faith or very little of it. Do you experience those times too? I heard something recently that made me look at how I was using my faith and a way to constructively compare the levels of faith.
Think of these situations and compare:
Someone asks you to pray for them because they got a bad report from their doctor. You pray and stand on the Word of God for their healing. What level of faith do you have here that your friend will be healed?
You go for a job interview. You pray for God’s favor with the people conducting the interview and His provision for your needs. What level of faith do you have that you will get the call that you are hired?
You go to Amazon.com and use your credit card to order a new laptop. You arrange to have your new machine shipped to you and get the order confirmation. You get your receipt in an email 2 minutes later. Your laptop will be shipped the next day and arrive at your address in 5-7 business days. What level of faith do you have in Amazon and the shipping folks to get your computer to you? Are you feeling what I felt when I heard this revelation? I need some faith-building help.
The answer? “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17. Our faith is built by hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God and putting what you’ve heard into action; practice your faith.
