“As they went, they were cleansed.” Luke 17:14.
The Bible says, “For we walk by faith and not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7. That is many times a problem. The saying goes, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”, but when you see something you don’t have to believe it. It’s right there in front of you. Jesus, however, doesn’t work that way.
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. Luke 17:11-14
Did you know that, first, these guys called out to Jesus from a distance because they weren’t allowed to be around people because of their terrible disease? Jesus turned and saw them; He didn’t go over and touch them or pray for them. He just said “Go”, and apparently, the ten guys started off to the priests who had to certify that they were healed. Did you know they were not healed when they started? They still had leprosy but Jesus said go and they went! And…”as they went, they were cleansed.” They went on faith and not on what they saw and received what they had asked of Jesus. Shouldn’t we do the same?
