Over the past several weeks we’ve been looking at some situations in the Bible that seem crazy to the natural mind but are “normal” with God. He told different people to do some strange things but, as we’ve learned, if God says do something, it’s best to DO IT!
Today, we take a look at the last “crazy” thing in this series which was one of the first recorded in the Bible, in Genesis 3. “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”. “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman”. (Genesis 3: 1,4). In other words, Satan was saying to Eve, “That’s crazy, you won’t die.”. Here’s a tip for us, if the devil says to do something, DON’T DO IT! Everything he says is a lie and he’s trying to kill, steal from, and destroy us, (John 10:10). Unfortunately, Eve listened to him, Adam followed, and so sin is with us today. BUT…Jesus came, destroyed the power of Satan, and gave us His Spirit to have dominion over this place again! Hallelujah!
As Jesus hung on the cross, He said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:24). This sounds crazy to us too. But, if Jesus did it, we are to follow Him and forgive also. And what about some other crazy things we may have the opportunity to do? Give a huge tip to a waitress, pray for someone with a problem in Walmart, give someone the best deal in a business transaction, pay for the meal of the person behind you in the drive-through, stop and help somebody in need, get saved….can you think of any “crazy” things to DO? “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40). Whatever God says to do, it’s not crazy, DO IT!
