What If? – Part 2, The Temple

What if… a famous person; the governor, a wealthy businessman, or a well-known minister were making a visit to our area and instead of getting a room at a hotel, they wanted to stay at your house?   Would you be honored?  Would you have to clean up your house?  Would you have to “hide” anything you have lying around now?  What all would you do to prepare for this monumental visit?

What if… Jesus was coming to stay at your house.  What would you do to host the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?  Wouldn’t you want to have the best accommodations available for Him?  Wouldn’t you want to have a neat and clean house?  Wouldn’t you want to provide the best food and other things he might need while you are hosting Him?  Well, guess what?  If you’re a Christian, you ARE hosting the Lord right now.  “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?”  (1 Corinthians 3:16).

Think about our bodies and our minds.  Think about the things that go into us through our eyes and ears which end up in our hearts which is where Jesus lives.  Are we filling His dwelling place with acceptable items just as we would if that famous person was coming to our house?  What if… our temple contained only the things that were pleasing to Him?  What if…think about it.
