Believing is a critical part of the successful Christian life. We’ve all said at one time or another, “I can’t believe it!” But we really CAN believe something if we hear it enough and see evidence of it. If you are saved, you, “..believed in your heart..”, (Romans 10:9), and were saved. Believing and not doubting are mentioned by Jesus frequently, “Jesus said to him, if you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.” (Mark 9:23). And, “Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” (Mark 5:36). But believing for the promises of God in our daily lives is hard and many times we say as the boy’s father said, “I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24). But you know, we actually believe more than we think we do; consider this:
I believe that God said, “Let there be light, and light was.”
I believe God created the earth in six days.
I believe that Abraham had a son when he was a hundred years old.
I believe the Israelites walked across the Red Sea on dry land.
I believe Noah built an ark when it had never rained because God said to.
I believe Joseph went from a bragging teenager to second in command in Egypt.
I believe teenager David killed a 9’ tall giant while the soldiers trembled in the trenches.
I believe three Hebrew boys stood in a furnace and came out alive with not even the smell of smoke.
I believe Daniel spent a night with hungry lions and came out without a scratch.
I believe Lazarus came to life after being dead four days.
I believe two fishes and five loaves turned into lunch for thousands.
I believe water was turned into expensive wine at a wedding party.
I believe Peter walked out of a locked prison and walked on water.
I believe a man jumped up for the first time in his life at the Gate called Beautiful.
I believe Paul and Silas were freed from prison chains by an earthquake.
I believe Jesus was born of a virgin, died on a cross, and came back to life for me and you.
I believe now that demons tremble and run from the Name of Jesus.
So you see…we DO believe many unbelievable things already. So what’s keeping us from believing our needs will be met today. “For nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37). And when we really believe something good, we get excited. Are you excited? Do you believe?
