Do you even have dreams for your life? Do you think you’re too old to dream or too young to think about that? Well, God has dreams for you: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). I’m not talking about New Year’s resolutions, but dreams, plans, and goals for your life. We tend to have a very limited view of ourselves, our talents and abilities which hinders our dreams AND hinders what God wants to do through us. “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20). What’s your dream?
I challenge each of you to do this: Sit down with a notebook in a quiet place and begin to pray; imagine God is there with you, (He is), and just have a conversation. Think about what you’d like to accomplish in your life in the next year, 5 years, 10 years or by the time you’re 90. Ask God what He thinks about it and if He has any ideas. Listen. As you do this, begin to write down your dreams. “And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets,” (Habakkuk 2:2). And don’t think anything is an impossible dream; write it down. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37). Keep in mind that God’s dreams for you will involve advancing His Kingdom but you will be greatly blessed as well.
Keep this list handy and look at it often, check things off as they come to pass and add to the list as needed. And most importantly, pray prayer circles around your dreams every day. Don’t give up! It may take years of praying to see a dream come to pass. “Drawing prayer circles around our dreams isn’t just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for God. It’s a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us.” Pastor Mark Batterson from his book The Circle Maker. What’s your dream?
