I know many people are going through a rough time right now. There are many things that can steal our joy and make us think it’s the end. We know where that comes from, “The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy,” (John 10:10), but God is there to give us an abundant life. This week, as I was praying for a dear family who tragically lost a son, I was thinking about things that happen in our lives, especially the difficult things. I then got the vision of an open book. Immediately, the Lord began speaking to me about our lives and how they relate to a book.
The difficult things that happen in our lives are only the last sentence of a chapter, not the end of the book. The book doesn’t close; there is another, maybe many more, chapters. In fact, the book of a Believer NEVER closes. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). We have a future, it’s a good one, and it will go on forever! “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;” (Jeremiah 1:5)
A chapter may end but there is more to the story, much more! “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13). We who are saved have a home in Heaven promised to us and we will go there on the day when Jesus returns with all those who have gone before us. And only God knows what our chapters will be like when we enter the pearly gates. I’m sure it will be a good read!
Don’t close the “book” on your bad experience whatever it may be. Trust the God who loves you and The story, your story is… to be continued!
