What the scene may have sounded and looked like:
“Gabriel, Jesus and I have come up with a plan to save our people on earth and I’ve got a job for you.” “Sure Boss, what is it?” I want you to go down to a young lady named Mary in Nazareth of Galilee whom I favor greatly and give her a message.” “OK, what’s the message?” “Tell her she’s been chosen to bring the Messiah into the world as a baby and assure her everything will be alright because I’m with her.” “OK, Master.”
“Greetings Mary, God has blessed you and is with you.” “Whoa, what’s going on?” “Don’t be afraid, but just listen.” You’re going to become pregnant, give birth to a son and you’re to name him Jesus.” “He will be the son of God, God will give him the throne of King David, his ancestor, and he will rule God’s people forever.” “But how can this be, I’m not married!” “Mary, the Holy Spirit will come on you and your child will be holy and called the Son of God.” “Your relative Elizabeth is pregnant now with a son in her old age, God can do anything.” “OK, I’m God’s servant, let it be as you say.” “Goodbye Mary.” (Luke 1: 26-38)
Joseph, a carpenter and an ancestor of King David, was engaged to Mary but found out she was going to have a baby. He was a good man and didn’t want to embarrass her in public so he decided to call off the wedding. Joseph was thinking about this and went to sleep. An angel came to him in a dream. “Joseph, the baby that Mary’s going to have is from the Holy Spirit and everything’s going to be OK, go ahead and marry her.” “And after he’s born, name him Jesus because he’s going to save his people from their sins.” After Joseph woke up, he did as the angel had said and married Mary.
But they didn’t sleep together until after the baby was born. (Matthew 1: 18-25) (Paraphrased by the author)
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which being interpreted is, “God with us”). (Matthew 1:23)
