“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Well, we’re facing a new year. What will this year hold for us? What does God have planned for us? He does have your plan ready, you know: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). So, what is our part in God’s plans for us? We can make a lot of New Year’s resolutions but let me suggest three that are critical. If you’re not already doing these, DAILY, resolve to do so.
- Read your Bible. Our church provides a Bible Reading Plan for us to keep on track with our daily reading. A plan can also be accessed on your device: https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/11-project-345. It’s great that we all can be reading the same verses each day. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11)
- Pray. When we love someone, we want to spend time with them and talk to them. God is waiting each day, all during the day, to do this with each of us. I have written several posts about Prayer in my blog and you can find it here: https://roadrevelations.org and search, “prayer”. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.” (Philippians 4:6).
- Love. Every day, wherever we go, whatever we do, we’re supposed to show God’s love. “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8)
We may have many other “resolutions” but let’s be sure we include these three in our plans. What’s next? Only God knows but He has an unimaginable plan! “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” (Ephesians 3:20).
