May 9, 2021 is Mother’s Day, a day to honor our mothers. Many of our mothers are here with us and many have passed on. My mother moved to Heaven in May 2020. As I look through photos, cards and other memorabilia about Mom, I realize what a great person she was. I want to encourage each of you who are reading this, if you haven’t already, to write or record some memories of Mom so that future generations, and yourself, will be able to know and remember her. Oral History is a good way to do this. Click HERE to find out more. And, frequent visits are a must.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:” (Proverbs 31:25-28). A wife and a mother.
What Is A Mother?
By Katherine Nelson Davis
A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience,
And wonderful gentleness, too.
How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years.
The hearth of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family
Whose needs she has placed above all.
A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.
A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonderful insight and skill-
In each human heart is that one special corner
Which only a mother can fill!
Happy and blessed Mother’s Day!
