“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. “ (2 Chronicles 16:9)
Do you ever feel like you’re all alone, lost and can’t find your way? Hey, we’ve all felt that way but there are some things we need to be reminded of. First and most important, if you are saved, you’re never alone. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will NEVER leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, emphasis mine). God is always with us and He wants a closer relationship with us. Remember in the Garden when Adam and Eve had sinned and were hiding from God? You can’t hide from God! But God called out, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). He knew where they were and what they had done, He knows everything but He wanted them to come back to Him. Is He calling to you?
Also, Jesus is standing at your door knocking, (Revelation 3:20). He provided for the making of the door and the whole house for that matter and He made you who is inside. But He’s not going to barge in. Do you hear His knock, the doorbell sound or the smart doorbell ding? Or do you have headphones on, the TV ‘s too loud, or you’re asleep? He wants to come in and be with you and break bread, (oh, a lot of good things happened when Jesus broke bread). He may be saying, “Where are you? I want to come in!” Do you hear Him?
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (Matthew 11:15). Do you have ears? Jesus was frustrated so many times when His disciples and others around Him heard but didn’t understand. It takes spending time with Him, reading His Word and talking to Him, so when He speaks, we’ll hear. And if we don’t understand, He’ll help us with that too. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26). Are you listening?
Also, consider when and how you’re listening for God. In our busy, fast-paced lives, many times we’re too distracted to hear when He calls. And He is not going to holler and shout at you to get your attention. We need to reserve some quiet time in our day to be with the Lord and see what He has to say to us. In those quiet times, He will speak, The prophet Elijah wanted to hear from the Lord so he went where God told him to go and listen. But God was not in the wind, the earthquake or the fire but, “a still small voice.” (1 Kings 19:11-13). God speaks in a small, still voice so we have to be surrounded by quietness to hear Him. Now, sometimes God will cause something to happen in our lives to get our attention so He can speak to us but if we’re close to Him, He won’t need to do that. Stay close, walk with Him, hold His hand and you’ll be able to hear.
