Unsung Heroes

February 18, 2022February 18, 2022

“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:18).

Think about a big concert. There are performers on the stage, a fantastic light show and awesome sound. Wow! We focus on the stage but what about the people behind the scenes who make all this work? Think about a cruise ship. We may see the captain and other officers but what about all the crew who work below deck? Yes, are you getting the understanding?

Now, what about the church? We see the pastors and the praise team but what about the others who work, “behind the scenes”? Those who work the lights, the sound, the visuals, the children’s workers, the security team, the prayer team, the ushers, the office personnel, those who clean and repair things and the volunteers. They are, we are, and integral part of the ministry. They are unsung heroes and the church could not function without them. These folks may not be “up front” but are just as much a part of the ministry as those who are. Now, I’m not saying that those who are “up front” are doing it for their glory, they’re doing it for the glory of God…hopefully. He has put them in that position to use their gifts for the good of all.

It would be good to thank these “unsung heroes” sometimes. If you are not a part of the “behind the scenes” crew, please think and pray about where you might be plugged in. We are all a part of the Body of Christ, (1 Corinthians 12:12), and are gifted to help in some way. But we must remember that the glory goes to God and not us. Then, on that day, we will hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21). Be an unsung hero.
