Recently, our Associate Pastor, Shawn Campbell, spoke on a Wednesday night about testimonies. It was a great message and it made me think; as Christians, we all have testimonies, things God has done for us. What are we doing with those stories?
The man born blind in John 9 testified after Jesus healed him, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” (V. 25). I thought…did Lazarus tell people what Jesus did for him in John 11? It was known to those who witnessed it, did they testify? What about the woman whose son was raised from the dead in Luke 7? What do you think she told everyone? And what about her son? Then there was the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8. Do you think she kept silent when she went back home? I don’t think so in each of these situations. When Jesus does something for us, we need to tell about it.
What has God done for us? Have we told anyone? We need to testify so God will get the glory He deserves. When I was teaching, I was having terrible headaches almost weekly. Sometimes I would have to go home, take meds and lay down. At a men’s Bible study in Big Stone, the leader, Dave Knight, asked if anyone needed prayer. I raised my hand and said I was having frequent headaches. He asked me to come sit in a chair up front and all the man gathered around me laying their hands on me. I was anointed with oil and Pastor Knight led the prayer. From that night, the headaches stopped! God is good!
What has God done for you? It will encourage others to hear about it. “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11). Tell it!
