I have read recently in a few devotions and prophesies that there is coming a “shaking” of God’s people in order to usher in the next revival. It brings to my mind three instances of “shaking” that happened in the Bible. One was stated in Matthew 27:51 as Jesus gave up His Spirit on the cross, “And behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two from top to bottom. And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split.” Can you imagine that that shook up the people? The another instance was in the Upper Room, “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31). That was the first Pentecostal Revival and we are a part of that beginning, that shaking. The third was when Paul and Silas were in prison and singing and praising God. “Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.” When God causes a “shaking”, miraculous things happen.
During one of our Monday night prayer sessions last year, as I was walking around the sanctuary praying, God gave me these words, “Shake me, wake me, break me, make me and take me on to your plan for me.” Wow, I was touched by God’s command! Here is the explanation of what I saw those words to mean. If there’s a job to be done and I’m sleeping, I want God to shake me and wake me. Have you ever done that to a child or had it done to you? Next, I was reminded of another vision I had years ago of me asking God to make me into what He desired of me but first, I had to be broken, break, me. I instantly saw myself as a pile of dust and God began adding oil to reshape, make, me into His vision of me. So first, I needed to be broken down so God could remake me into His image. Then lastly, when all the shaking, waking, breaking and making is completed, God will take me on to His plan.
The church is being shaken now to awaken us to our assignment in God’s plan for America. As individuals and part of the “body”, we need to be shaken so we can join into God’s plan. Have you felt the shaking? May we not just roll over and say, “Not now, I’m tired.” “Many are called but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14). “Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8).
