Insight into God's word, delivered from behind the wheel and from God's Word.

Active

May 3, 2025May 3, 2025

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

During prayer this past Monday night, I was praying for all those who serve in our church. I was thinking of our pastors, praise team, prayer team, teachers, workers, and volunteers; anybody who has a responsibility at Zion Family Ministries. And then I prayed this, “Bless all those who have an active role in our church.” Then immediately the thought came to me, “What does it mean to have an active role?” On a sports team, each player has an active role. At your job, everyone has an active role. In the military, each person in on active duty. Can everyone in our congregation have an “active” role? Are there some who are not “active”? The word, active, is defined as this: Participating or engaged in a particular sphere or activity in a positive or spontaneous rather than a passive way. Being passive means not actively participating or intervening in a situation, but rather allowing things to happen or be decided by others without resistance or influence. Active or passive?

I don’t want people who are not working, serving or volunteering in some way to feel they are not active. There are many different ways for us to be active at ZFM. Join the Prayer Chain team, greeters, food distribution volunteers and others. But we can all be active by doing certain things. We can come to church, we can pray, we can sing and praise God or read the 345 Bible Reading Plan. But being active in the Church isn’t only within the walls of Zion. As the above verse says, “Do all for the glory of God.” We can be active members of God’s church every day of the week, everywhere we go. As Christians, we are representatives of God and should be actively pursuing His mission to shine our light everywhere. That is being active. This week ask God to show you how you can be more active in all that you do giving glory to God.

Thanks, Bill. Christian poets and writers have a unique opportunity to serve with words aimed to bring healing to and through the Body of Christ and to bring glory to God. May the Lord inspire and guide us in Jesus’ Name.
