Speak It

What we can do with our words is powerful. Mark 11:23 says, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain,” Say the words. God created everything with His words. “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” (Psalm 33:9). Are you feeling weak? “Let the weak say, “I am strong!” (Joel 3:10). Jesus, in the wilderness being tempted by Satan, said three times, in Matthew 4, “It is written.” (v. 4, 7, 10). He spoke God’s Word, He didn’t just think it. Are you getting the understanding?

I have found that memorizing a few verses and speaking them with power, has an effect on the enemy, his temptations and issues in your life. “Devil, I’m not going there! I have submitted to God and I resist you and you’ve got to flee! (James 4:7), (Notice the exclamation marks.). I’ve been given authority to trample over all your power and nothing you do is going to harm me! (Like 10:19). I’m fully dressed in the full Armor of God, (Ephesians 6:11), and I have the Sword of the Spirit in hand! (v. 17). Greater is He that is in me than you who are in the world!” (1 John 4:4)). So, get outta here and shut up, I’m not listening to it! In Jesus’ name I declare it!” I have victory in Jesus!” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Speak God’s Word out loud with authority and power!

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; (Revelations 12:11). It is good to tell, speak what God has done for us. “But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” (Psalm 73:28).

Lord, help me plan what I will say, when temptation’s voice comes my way.

Give me Your Words that I can speak when troubles come and I am weak.

Help me through my dark valley time or up that high mountain we will climb.

I speak Your Words, I know they’re true. I’ll win as long as I’m with You.

The Devil Made Me Do It!

This saying was made famous by comedian and actor Flip Wilson in the late 60s and 70s. The comic idea was that he didn’t want to do it but the devil made him. Some people today want to use that same excuse when they’re caught in sin. The truth is, the devil cannot make anyone do anything! Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” The same power that created the universe resides within us. As a result, Satan has no true power over believers in Christ. He can only temp us, he cannot MAKE us do his will. He didn’t take the fruit from the tree in the Garden and make Eve eat of it; no, he tempted her. “Your enemy the devil prowls around LIKE a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). He tries to deceive us. Sometimes he will be allowed to test us as he did Job but God was in control. He tempted Jesus in the wilderness and we know how that came out. Satan has no control over us unless we give it to him.

So, what do we do when we’re tempted? We focus on God, “I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.” (Psalm 16:8). We keep our eyes on God and the Path ahead so as not to be distracted. We submit to God and resist the devil, (James 4:7). We use the weapons and strategies God has given us to resist. We stand, but not in our own power, we stand with the full armor of God on! (Ephesians 6:13), especially “the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God,” (Ephesians 6:17). We need to declare to the devil, “God only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved!” (Psalm 62:6). We can pray as in the Lord’s Prayer, “Lord, lead us away from temptation and deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:13).

Might I suggest that we prepare a battle declaration prayer when temptation jumps out on us while on the Path of Life using these and other scriptures? Say, “Not today devil!”, and quote our declaration. Be aware of our surroundings and take charge with the power of the Holy Spirit in us.

Power and Authority

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

Power is the capacity of a person or group to influence others and alter their actions, beliefs, and behaviors. Authority is the right that a person or group has been given to use their power over others.

A policeman may have the power to arrest someone but they must have the authority of the department to legally do so. An employee may have the knowledge and ability to make a major change in their company but they must have to been given the authority from the boss to do so.

As Christians, as it states above, we have been given the power AND the authority from Heaven to confront the enemy when he comes at us with his temptations and distractions. We have the power and authority so why do we, so many times, let the devil have his way? Do we not know what authority we have? Have we not read and memorized power verses from the Bible to use? The devil is seeking whom he may devour, (1 Peter 5:8). If we use our power and authority to resist him, he will flee, (James 4:7). We must understand and use the power and authority God has given us. Sometimes it won’t be easy or immediate but we must stand on God’s Word and be persistent. And it certainly helps to have “two or three” warriors with you to do battle.

Imagine this scene: You’re on the Path of Life when this demon jumps out of the bushes and confronts you with a temptation. You say, “Get outa here, I’m not listening to you, you can’t hurt me!” The demon replies with a snicker, “A

Ha, and who do you think you are?” You declare, “I’m a Child of God!” At that very instant, Jesus steps out from behind you and says, “That’s right, and I’ve given them the power and authority to kick you back in the bushes.” The demon realizes he’s confronted the wrong person and quickly flees the scene. We have the power and authority! But, we must use them. I have written about some battle scriptures that I use in my blog. Stretch Out Your Hand

“Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:30).

After Peter and John were released from questioning by the Sanhedrin, they went back to “their own people” and gathered in prayer to God. They asked God for boldness as they spread His Word and, as it says above, to stretch out His hand as they acted in the name of Jesus. They were not asking for the supernatural Hand of God to suddenly appear and do signs and wonders. They were asking for the Hand of God to be stretched out on them as they prayed and acted in the Name of Jesus. They were asking for the Holy Spirit to empower them as they did the work of God among the people. How about us? If we’re saved, we have that power of the Holy Spirit in us which could give us the authority to “stretch out our hand” with God’s power that is in us. Notice I said “could”. We have to believe, have the faith and trust in God’s promises to accomplish the task. “Lord, increase our faith, help our unbelief and help us to trust in You.”I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

There was a man with a shriveled hand in the synagogue that Jesus healed. But He told him: “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.” (Matthew 12:13). The man had to do what Jesus asked him. Then there was the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8. The healing power of Jesus was there but she had to “reach out” by faith and believing to access that power. “She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped” (Luke 8:44). She believed and acted. So, why don’t we begin the process of believing, increasing our faith and trusting God’s promises to do great things for Him and for those around us? It might not happen instantaneously. God usually wants to build us up, take us from Glory to Glory and train us to do His work. So, let’s begin…stretch UP your hand to say, “Here I am God, I volunteer.”

It Is Written!

“But Jesus said, “It is written,” (Matthew 4:4)

I get a lot of visions and revelations relating to myself being on the Path of Life. The Path is narrow with many twists and turns, ups and downs and there are tempting side trails along the way. Sometimes I’m tempted, like everyone I guess, to get off the Path, and sometimes I do, but God is always right there with me to guide me back in the right direction. Thank you, God, for never leaving me! Well, recently I got a vision that I want to share that I hope will be a help for anyone who encounters resistance on The Path.

While walking the Path, this demon jumps out from the bushes on the left side, ( Is there a significance in my vision that he came from the left? I don’t know.). He comes out mocking, accusing and tempting me to get off the Path. But, this time, I’m prepared; we have to be prepared. After he throws all his lies and junk at me, I say, “Hey, wait a minute. Haven’t I read that you have been defeated?” “that through death He, (Jesus), might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,” (Hebrews 2:14). The demon has a strange look on his face. “And, He who is in me is greater that you are.” (1 John 4:4). And, I’ve been given authority to trample on you and all your so called power and nothing you can do will harm me!” (Luke 10:19). This demon is realizing that, maybe, he’s seeking to destroy the wrong person. I continue: “I’ve read and believe that I’m an overcomer and more than a conqueror.” (Romans 8:37). “And I have on the full armor of God and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God that I have read, believe and stand on.” (Ephesians 6:10-18). So, as you can see, I’ve submitted to my God and I resist you in the name of Jesus and command you to shut up and get out of my face!” (James 4:7).

At this point, the demon realizes he’s picked the wrong person to harass and disappears. frightened, back into the bushes. I then feel a gentle pat on my back and turn and see Jesus standing there smiling. “You did good. Keep using the weapons I’ve given you and remember I’m always here with you.” “Let’s go on.”

It’s good to know the Word of God and use it to resist the enemy. I pray that this revelation that God gave me will help you to submit and resist when you are confronted. Memorize these verses or some that you can find and use them like Jesus did in the wilderness…”IT IS WRITTEN!”
