“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
I wrote about a similar topic in 2021 but the topic has come up to me again several times recently. It must be important. All of us in the “body” have been given at least one Spiritual Gift to help meet the needs of the “body” and others. Being a former coach, I relate this to athletics. What if every player on a football team was the size of a big lineman? Or if all were the size of a slim receiver? The team would not be successful. And what about the quarterback, running backs and receivers getting all the glory? We are all gifted in different ways to help our “team” be successful. We in the Body of Christ, the Church, each have a role to play and it’s not limited to the four walls of the church. We’re assigned to, “Do good to all.” (Galatians 6:10). We need to use our gifts to do good and give God all the glory.
Now speaking of Spiritual gifts, God’s Spirit gives them out, (1 Corinthians 12:4), and we each have at least one gift. Do we know what our Spiritual gift is? Think about this: What if someone got a great Christmas gift that would help others but they didn’t open it, put it in a drawer and never used it? Sad huh? So how do we know what our Spiritual gift is? Here’s a suggestion: Go to: https://gifts.churchgrowth.org/spiritual-gifts-survey and answer the 108 questions in seven parts. This will let you know how you are gifted. You may already be using your gifts without knowing it. My #1 gift is “teaching” but I didn’t know it until years after I began teaching. So, let’s do our job, as we are gifted, and let the glory go to God.
