I woke up this morning with the word, “Covered” on my mind and as I thought about it, I realized, “Covered” can have many meanings, both negative and positive. We can be covered with mud, covered up with work, or responsibilities. If you’re a receiver in football, you can be covered by a defensive back. And, you can be covered by sin. However, if you’re in the military, you can be covered by the fire of a comrade as you change positions. You can be covered by someone’s promise, “I’ve got ya covered.” You can be covered by an insurance policy for home, car or health issues or you can be covered by warm blankets on a cold winter’s night.
But I was reminded that the best covering anyone can have is God’s covering. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;” (Psalm 91:4) “Let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them.” (Psalm 5:11) “And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a covering.” (Isaiah 4:5) And, Jesus made a way for us to be covered, “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.” (Romans 4:7) The blood of Jesus “Covers” us, washes away our sin and truly He can say, “I’ve got ya covered!” Are you covered?
