Something I pray many times is this: “Lord today, may everything I think, say, do, feel and show be pleasing to You.” It reminds me that I can please or displease God during my day with my words, thoughts and actions. Once, I was at a red light and it turned green but the car in front of me didn’t move. After a few seconds, I got aggravated, blew my horn and hollered, “Go on, it’s green!” Instantly I remembered, what did I just THINK, SAY, DO, FEEL and SHOW? I had to check off all five things that displeased God and repented and asked for forgiveness. It makes me think during my days.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think on these things”- (Philippians 4:8). “Let the…meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD,” (Psalm 19:14). THINK.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” .(Ephesians 4:29). SAY.
“For we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 ). DO
“A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back.” (Proverbs 29:11). FEEL.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). SHOW.
The things we think, say, do, feel and show every day make a difference. Let’s think and remember that. Sometimes we’ll have to check off some unpleasing things. But God loves us and will forgive us as we grow to be more like Him.
“When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Proverbs 16:7).
“Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).
