I have read and thought about the verses below many times and how they relate to things in my life. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 KJV). Ask Seek Knock, A-S-K. I thought that was interesting. And then we read in James 4:2-3, “You don’t have because you don’t ask…or you ask with wrong motives.” (Paraphrased). And then, there’s this verse: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20 KJV).
So, now that you have those “door” verses in your mind, here is what God spoke to me about them. And, I want you to try to picture these scenarios.
You have a family member, friend or someone else who has a need. Maybe they need healing, wisdom, favor or protection. And you take them to “The Door” and you’re standing there in front of it and you raise your hand to knock. But before you can knock, they stop you and say, “Wait, I think I’ll just try to handle this on my own. I’m not sure it’s the right thing to do.” You’ve taken them to The Door, behind which, is their answer, but they don’t believe and won’t let you help them. How sad.
The other scene is of Jesus coming to your house with the answer to your prayer. He stands on your porch, knocking on your “door” waiting for you to answer. However, inside, the TV is going full blast, you have your headphones on, you’re having a loud argument with someone…whatever it is, and you don’t hear the knock on the door. Again, how sad.
Another point here in Matthew 7:7, in the Amplified version: “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” Don’t stop asking, seeking, knocking. God’s ways are higher than ours and His timing is perfect. Keep it up. “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11). Know what God’s word says and speak it back to Him…and keep knocking.
