“The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1).
During praise and worship this past Wednesday, we sang the song, “This Is A Move”, which had the lyric, “We need a move.” I prayed, “Lord, we need a move.” Immediately, I heard in my Spirit, “People, you need to move!” Oh, it made me realize that God can do all things but, many times, He wants us to take the first step. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8). We can’t just sit around and ask God to do all the things we need and want without putting forth any effort on our part. Oh, He does act immediately sometimes but His plan is usually to involve us.
God told Abraham to go and he went not knowing where or what the plan was. God later told Abraham to go and sacrifice your only son, Genesis 22:2. Wow! But he obeyed God and, by faith, it worked out. It will always work out if we obey God. There are so many times in the Bible where God or Jesus said, “Go”. When the people went, no matter how strange the command was, God came through. When the people chose to do it their own way, look out! It did not go well with them. But…there is always the option of crying out to God in repentance.
So, what has God told you to do? Where has He commanded you to go? If you are not sure, go to the Book, God’s Word or talk to Him, pray. He definitely has a plan for each of us and it would be sad if God has told us to “Go” somewhere, to help someone, or to serve in some way and we didn’t go. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). Lord, how can I serve you today.”
