I wrote about this subject in 2022 but God gave me some more revelations recently. God and Jesus gave many commands to others in the Bible including the word, Go.. Let’s look at a few of these.
In Genesis 12:1 God told Abraham, “Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.” Abraham didn’t know where God was taking him but he obeyed.
Later, God told Abraham, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2). God had given Abraham this son and now God was asking him to kill him? Abraham obeyed.
In Matthew 2:13, God told Joseph of the plan King Herod had to kill Jesus, “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.” Joseph obeyed.
Jesus told the ten lepers who had come to Him for healing, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. (Luke 17:14). They all obeyed what Jesus had told them but the main point of this story was that only one came back to thank Jesus. We must always be thankful.
In Acts 10:11, Jesus told Ananias in a vision, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.” Ananias knew he was being told to go to this man named Saul who had been terrorizing Christians. But he obeyed and thus began the ministry of Paul.
Jesus told the eleven disciples, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20). They went and the rest is history.
So, what we need to think about today is…Where is God telling us to go?
