Chosen (Adjective) – Having been selected as the best or most appropriate. Chosen. This word came to me recently while driving home from Charlottesville, (a revelation from the road). I heard something in a song which started the ideas coming. Then different parts and applications relating to Christmas began to form in my mind which led to a complete teaching. Over the next three posts, we will look at these applications.
First, Jesus was chosen: “God chose Him as your ransom long before the world began,” (1 Peter 1:20 NLT). God had and still has a plan. It’s hard for us to understand from the Garden of Eden to Noah and the great flood how sin has messed up God’s plan…but has it? God’s plan involved Jesus before the world began and you know He knew all that would happen before that night in Bethlehem. I can imagine the scene in Heaven when Father God might have said, “Son, it’s time.” To which Jesus replied, “Okay Father, I’m ready, let’s go.” “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10).
Jesus was chosen. He came for a purpose. He was the “best and most appropriate” to carry out God’s ultimate plan. CHOSEN!
