What was it that triggered Job’s healing and restoration?
We complain about things that happen in our lives. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” (John 16:33). So we know it’s coming but I don’t know anybody that had the trouble Job had. And actually, Job’s problems came because God was bragging on him. He said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”( Job 1:8).
We don’t understand God allowing such things to happen to His servant but we see that God wants us to NOT focus on the things we have, even family, but on Him. Job did this. However his wife told him to, “Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9). and his friends Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar tried to convince Job it must be his own fault because of some sin in his life. So not only did Job have to deal with his losses but with the chastisement and bad advice of those around him.
However, Job was faithful to God, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” (Job 13:15). And after all of this, Job passed the test and God restored him. But what did Job do to cause it? “When Job prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes. In fact, the LORD gave him twice as much as before!” (Job 42:10 NLT). Do you have some “friends”?
