“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27)
I want you to picture this: A successful athlete stands before the judgment seat of Christ listening for the cheers from the crowd. He hears none. He looks in the mirror to admire his trained physique and all the trophies he’s won but all he sees is the reflection of his Spirit man. There stands a scrawny, weak, sickly person due to years of neglect. All that time spent in sports training now accounts for nothing! Next in line is a successful businessman who’s getting worried at what he is seeing. Has he wasted his time also?
Then, there steps up to the mirror, a poor woman who never achieved the success of the world but spent her time getting to know God, loving Him and serving His people. She’s not dressed in fine clothes, she has no trophies or status but as she steps in front of the mirror, she sees an amazing reflection. She sees herself as a child of God, dressed out in royal attire with her mansion in the background and all her Heavenly riches surrounding her! She glances over at the throne and God says, “Enter in my child.” (Matthew 25:21b). Can you see her? Are you like her?
We all spend our time in different ways. I pray that we all will focus on the things that God has planned for us even before we were born. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10). It’s time to do an assessment before it’s too late!
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
