“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” (Matthew 7:7)
During my morning devotion recently, God gave me a little more information on this scripture that, I think, is good for us all to consider. “Ask and you shall receive”; You may not receive exactly what you’re asking for but you WILL receive an answer. It may be “Yes.”, “No.”, “Please wait.”, or “Yyyeees, but let me change a few things.” And, many times, “wait” is the answer because God wants to work something out first. If we give God control, we must thank Him for the answer and believe that it’s coming according to His will, His purpose and His timing.
“Seek and you shall find”; you may not find what you think you’re looking for but God will show you something much better. “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3). And, you don’t give up when you don’t find it in the first place you seek. You keep on seeking and ask God for direction.
“Knock and it shall be opened unto you”; If the door you’re knocking on doesn’t open, it’s the wrong door! Knock on the next one, the door God has prepared for you, and it will open with unimaginable resources available within. However, when it opens, you have to step inside.
I know many of us are asking, seeking and knocking this morning and I pray that this insight into the scripture will be helpful. Now, be encouraged by the next verse: “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (v.8). Be blessed!
