“ I pray that the God of peace will give you every good thing you need so you can do what he wants.” (Hebrews 13:20 NCV).
God has given each of us at least one Spiritual gift, maybe more, for us to use to accomplish His purpose for us on this earth, (1 Peter 4:10). Sadly, many Christians are not aware of their giftings and thus are not fulfilling their purpose for God’s kingdom. If you have never taken a Spiritual gift assessment, here is the link to one: https://giftstest.com/test. It will give you an idea of the tools God has given you to work for Him. I just took this test and it confirmed, again, that my #1 gift is teaching.
What if…someone was given a task to do and was provided with the instructions and all the tools needed to accomplish the task. When they were checked on later, they had not even begun using what they were given. The task was undone. What would you think of them? Well, God has done that for us. He’s given us the instructions, His Word in the Bible, and the tools to be successful. So, what are we doing? Are we trying to do the job on our own using the tools we think are needed? “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” (Proverbs 3:5).
I will share a personal confession to illustrate this. I got my riding mower stuck in a muddy place. It wouldn’t move. I turned it off and tried to pull and push it out of the place with no success. It was on flat ground, it should have moved. Getting frustrated! So, I go get my truck and a chain to pull it out. Hooked it up and pulled but it was harder than I thought it should be, it just didn’t roll out. So when I got it pulled out, I unhook it and start it back up to move it out of the way so I could back my truck out. Then it hit me…when I turned it off, as usual, by habit, I set the parking brake. That’s why I couldn’t pull or push it out myself. Oh my, I was humbled. I had the “instructions” to do the job but didn’t use them. Lesson learned the hard way. I should have talked to the Master. I will next time. Use the instructions and tools God has given us.
