With the current political campaigns in full swing, we see and hear the candidates touting their qualifications and fitness to serve. I realize they can say anything to any crowd gathered to listen and sometimes, what they say differs with the crowd who is listening. They show a lot of strong limbs and healthy-looking leaves but my question is, “Where’s the fruit?”
Those professing to be Christians, followers of Jesus, can be the same way. Jesus said, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20.” What we say and even sometimes what we do is not really who we are. It’s the fruit we display that counts. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4“.
If we’re not “attached” to the vine, we’re not going to have fruit to show. We may have a lot of limbs and leaves…but no fruit. We can say how good of a believer we are but the proof is in the fruit. Where’s the fruit? As I go about my daily business, I want people to see my fruit. I want them to SEE I’ve been with Jesus.
