Get With the Program

Given January 3, 2016

“And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1C)

Here is a thought about God and prayer that came to me recently.

God is not a coin-operated machine where you drop in a coin (prayer) to instantly get what you want.  Although God does instantly answer some prayers, He decides on that, He has a different procedure He’d like us to use.  The plan He really likes is more like a program where you sign up (get saved), join the group (fellow believers, the family of God), and have daily meetings with the Founder (devotions and prayer).  This is the way He wants you to learn His plan and process.  In addition to the daily meetings with the Founder, you will have regular meetings with other team members (church) and participate in training activities (Bible reading and practicing what you learn with the public).  You’ll also be encouraged to tell others about your group (witnessing and testifying) and encourage them to join too.

This is not an easy thing.  It will take time, determination, passion, teamwork and the expectation that your efforts are and will produce a valuable reward for you and others.  How about it?   Let’s get with the program!
