Don’t Stop!

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)

We live in a culture that punishes mistakes. When we were kids, we often got punished for our disobedience and the mistakes that disobedience brought on. But our parents had a plan to help us to grow past and learn from our mistakes. School and sports work the same way.  The fear of making mistakes sometimes paralyzes us; it stops us from starting that project or idea out of fear that it will go wrong.  And, sometimes, even after we’ve started the idea, we want to stop and give up when things get difficult. Think about it, what if the Israelites, Joseph or Jesus had stopped when things got difficult for them? The Kingdom of God works differently. In the Bible, failure is never a full stop; it’s a comma like Psalm 37 above says. The Lord is with us all the way and will help us to keep going. He has a plan! Do you know God’s plan for you?

However, Satan has a plan too. He wants to stop us from moving forward in God’s plan. Don’t listen to him! In Genesis 3:1 he asked Eve, “Did God really say?” Oh, that she had not listened!

But sometimes we will stumble, sometimes we’ll get off the Path, sometimes we make mistakes. It’s not a stop, it’s a comma. We need to reach out to God’s hand and get back on the Path. He’s standing there holding out His hand to us.

So today, let’s think about something we feel God is leading us to do knowing that it may be difficult but also knowing God is right there with us. Don’t stop! If you need someone to join you in prayer for your need, please reach out to someone. Don’t stop!
