“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23)
I have sinned, fallen, lost my temper, said some bad things, messed up, got off the Path, made wrong decisions, got lost, didn’t follow directions, had unbelief, doubt, lack of faith, and had unforgiveness. But God… Can anyone identify?
Look at Abraham: Used his own plan to have a child as an old man. Job: Lost everything. Moses: Committed murder. David: As King, had an affair. Jacob: Deceived and stole his brother, Esau’s birthright . Jonah: Denied God’s plan and got stuck in a whale. Paul: Persecuted and killed Christians. Peter: Denied Jesus three times. Zacchaeus: Was a cheating tax collector. The woman at the well: Had five husbands and was a sinner. Mary Magdalene: Had seven demons inside her. And the man next to Jesus on the cross: He was being crucified with Jesus as a thief and robber But God… As we read in the Bible, all these, and others, were forgiven and went on to being included in the Bible. But God had other plans for them…and us!
We may think that we have done many sinful things, and we have, but God. We can remember the things we have done but, if we are saved, God has blotted out our sins, (Isaiah 43:25) and cast them into the depths of the sea, (Micah 7:19). An old gospel song says, “What sins are you talking about, I don’t remember them anymore. From the Book of Life they have been torn out, I don’t remember them anymore.”
However, Satan will keep reminding us of those past sins. He knows how to get at us. But God…
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18). “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17). But God…
So, when past sins come to your mind, pull out, “the Sword of the Spirit”, (Ephesians 6:17), and declare that you have the authority to use it, (Luke 10:19), against the enemy! God is with you!
