God gave me a thought recently and it made me think: “What were you made for? What is your purpose? Are you fulfilling it?” God says this about you, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;” (Jeremiah 1:5). Each one of us was created for a purpose and given certain talents, skills and gifts to do good works for God. Do you know what your talents and gifts are? What you’re good at, what you love doing and what’s natural for you is what you should be doing. I became a teacher because I wanted to be a coach. But, years later, I wondered if that was what God really intended for me to be and do. However, the confirmations have come from former students and athletes and I realized, yes, I’m a teacher.
I believe that too many of God’s created beings are not fulfilling the purpose for which they were made. Oh, we may be doing alright with life choices we’ve made but what does God think? The image God showed me this week was of someone who built a fine, ornate, strong chair from scratch and it was beautiful. Then the woodworker put his creation in the garage and stacked junk on it. And there it stayed. Such a waste, you might be thinking. Well, do you think God may be thinking the same thing about us? We are His masterpiece, created in His image but some have put themselves in the garage serving a menial purpose. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10). I truly believe there are many people in the wrong professions. They’re not happy where they are. Maybe someone pushed them in that direction and that’s a mistake. Young people need to research this as they are planning for school and their future. You are God’s masterpiece. Let Him fashion you, train you and use you in the way He intended. #thinkaboutit
